a very nice lawn mower that folds in half, easy to put together, easy to use and easy to adjust, you cant go wrong with this mower

I have had mowwers from the cheap flymo to the pocket money price strimmers, all either didn't cut up to manufactures say on what the product can do, or just didn't work after a few months. This has to be the best mower i have had EVER! It's chunky. easy to put up has per instructions,which are clearly done. Although it is lighter than other mowers i have had i still struggled alittle to walk up outside steps with it (about 7 steps, i am 5ft 2 and 7stone) guess if you have some meat on you're body frame lifting this mower will be easyier! It cuts the grass supeurb, hardly had to push it at all, just walk behind and let the mower do the work. Well worth the cash! wish i had bought one of these from the start would of deffinatly saved alot.

This mower was purchased to replace three older mowers, each with a particular use. It works like a dream and cuts right up to the edge on both long and wet grass. I'm perfectly happy with it and the delivery was exactly as promised.

I bought my Bosch Qualcast 40cm mower and was very pleased with it / worked flawlessly for 2.5 years, it cut & collected grass well and left nice stripes (although can flatten short grass rather than lifting it up to be cut) - but then the motor failed and I had to get it replaced under the original 3yr Parts warranty. Latest warranty is now reduced to 2yrs parts & labour I believe. (I had to travel 50 miles round trip and pay for fitting as the labour warranty was only 12mths)
The replacement motor was fitted Summer 2009 (and as recent reviews for 2009 have said) then failed after 3 uses?!!! So I had another long round trip and had a 2nd replacement motor fitted... which then soon failed again on easy cut grass use??...
I am now on my 3rd 2009 motor, (last used Autumn 09) and am frightened to use the machine as the motor can die for no apparent reason?? (and now out of 3mth replacement warranty)
Someone has suggested that these latest motors have cheap aluminium windings, and not the old fashioned copper windings = hence they can't take any stress, and will easily overheat / fail. It is a shame for Bosch to now be unreliable, especially for motors? (Bosch are much better made that the flimsy Flymo versions)
Lovely machine when it works - just (sadly) don't expect the latest motors to last very long before they burn out...

Until I bought and used the Bosch I didn't realise how good the Flymo was (multi directional, adequate cable, good cable storage, easy grass disposal, good build quality). The Bosch cuts closer and is quieter but is limited to forward/backward cutting, (awkward under overhanging trees) and has inadequate cable and no cable storage. After unpacking I noticed a small brass screw on the floor and kept it. During its third use it stopped on me. I tried without the RCD but it didn't start. Then I checked the plugtop fuse and found that there was no screw securing the line cable to the pin. Must have worked like this since new. Amazingly, the small brass screw fitted and I was able to reconnect the cable to the pin and continue cutting. Bosch quality control let them down in this instance.
